| If you don't know the world operates in a way such that "the fittest survives", it actually means that you are one of the fittest.
I know separating equilibrium, and I know the world is forcing it to happen, I work hard in the hope that I will not be separated from the smart ones, and that I will still survive in this competitive world as one of the fittest. People who are naturally smart and academically intellectual will never know how separating equilibrium works, because as a matter of fact, they will not be separated.
The feeling that I can't overcome the "cost" induced, and I know I will be separated is actually quite painful, as I never find academics impossible, never, until LSE descends on me.
